Monday, November 12, 2012 Grimsby, ON - The Grimsby Major Peewee rep team traveled to Orillia this past weekend to compete in the 2012 Orillia Jim Wilson Winter Classic. Recalling the loss in the last year`s final of this same tournament, the team was determined to ensure a different outcome this year. The boys went undefeated in round-robin play beating Erindale Spitfires, Ajax Knights and West Hill Golden Hawks to clinch 1st place in their pool and advance to the semi-finals Sunday morning. A 3-2 semi-final victory over the persistent Port Perry Predators secured a spot in the Sunday afternoon finals against the dogged home town favorites Orillia Terriers. Faced with a very short bench due to illness and injuries and a team with home ice advantage, the boys dug deep to pull out an amazing 3-1 win over Orillia. Congratulations to all the boys and the coaching staff for delivering a truly inspirational weekend of hockey.
