Wednesday, January 02, 2013 Richmond Hill, ON: - The Richmond Hill Stars Minor Midget AA team captured their second tournament championship of the season this past weekend at the Stratford Silverstick Regional hockey tournament. The Stars got off to a slow start losing their first game to Cambridge [4 - 2], but the loss did not stop their determination and they battled hard to earn wins in their remaining round robin games defeating both Guelph Storm [6 - 2] and the Brampton 45s [1 - 0] to advance to the semi finals. In the semi finals the Stars took on the home team Stratford Warriors and came away with a hard fought 1 - 0 win. The win took the Stars to the finals where they defeated the Brampton 45s for the second time in the tournament by a score of 2-1. The Stars determination, hard work and heart took them to the win. As a result, the Richmond Hill Stars have qualified for the International Silverstick Championships which will be held in Newmarket, Jan 10-13. Go Stars Go!
