Roster Announced for U-17 World Hockey Challenge

Seven OMHA Alumni Selected to Represent Canada

Hockey Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) announced the 66 players who will roster the three (3) Canadian national teams (Black, Red and White) at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

Of those 66 players announced, 21 of them are from Ontario and out of those players, 7 developed their skills in the OMHA. The Ontario Minor Hockey Association would like to congratulate:  

F - Matthew Hotchkiss - Whitby Wildcats
D - Tyler Nother - Halton Hurricanes
F - Matthew Timms - Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs
G - Dylan Wells - Niagara North Stars
F - Christopher Paquette - Kingston Jr. Frontenacs
F - Jonathan Ang - Markham Waxers
F - Brandon Saigeon - Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs

Hockey Canada director of player personnel Ryan Jankowski & Program of Excellence management group representative Joel Bouchard lead a detailed selection process that included input from; U17 regional scouts, U16 branch scouts, CHL general manager advisory groups, U17 head coaches and U17 goalie coaches.  

The 2014 World Under 17 Challenge will take place November 2 – 8 in Sarnia, Ontario featuring 3 Canadian teams (Red, White & Black) and 5 international teams (USA, Sweden, Russia, Finland & Slovakia).
